The East African 2024 Awards

The East African 2024 Awards hosted at Kehancha, Kuria West Constituency, Migori County Kenya, featured reflexive and inspiring moments.
Celebrated to honor contributions by rural organizations in transforming livelihoods; the prestigious Mental Real-Of-State awards, is usually granted to organizations and individuals whose overall culture and innovative ideas, have positively impacted the community.
The international published author, public speaker and modern day philosopher of Mental Real-Of-State, Dr. Michael J. Freeland Jr, emphasized that the opportunity to do something, is usually greater than the reward for doing nothing, when honoring members of Safe Engage Foundation who had successfully showcased their abilities to combat some of the challenges affecting teenage girls, such as female genital mutilation and gender based violence in Kuria West Constituency.
The inception of Safe Engage Foundation, is preceded by the gut churning story of Christine Alfons who, as a young girl, faced confrontations by extremists to undergo forceful circumcision as required by the norms. Opposed to the idea, Christine’s father succumbed into the hands of perpetrators while protecting his daughter’s right to education and self determination.
In collaboration with I change Nations under the able stewardship of Dr. Clyde rivers, Mental Real-Of-State believes that change makers such as Christine and Safe Engage Foundation deserves to be honored and recognized for their unwavering faith, courage and resilience at the community, national and global level.
